I can say with 100% certainty that I would not have a house today if it weren't for Kevin. We had a complicated list of requirements, wanted a place near 24th in Noe Valley, and had a maximum price that was beneath the standard of the area. Kevin, who came recommended from a friend, told us right off the bat we were going to need to be the first bid or get a place that was off market. He worked with us and our crazy needs, kept up on the appointments, and was responsive to emails. We got to know Kevin through a friend, and when we wanted to sell our 2Br 2Ba Condo in SOMA, we knew who to call. What i definitely want to point out is that Kevin has a TON of experience and good networks in SF and had I initially listened to him, i think i would have sold my condo a lot sooner. I was a first time home buyer and had originally jumped into the process with very little information about the market (actually had to read books like Home Buying for Dummies, etc). Obviously I was quickly overwhelmed and got the sense that there was a large part of the market that I did not have access to without an agent. That where Kevin came it. I can break down my home buying process into two phases: BK and AK...Before Kevin and After Kevin. Before Kevin: Running around from open house to open house without an idea of what I wanted and how to get the home I wanted. Finding out that almost all the properties I saw were already in contract. Considering settling for properties which were below my expectations. After Kevin: Narrowing down my hunt to only homes I was interested in. Getting private showings of before market properties. Having the inside track on listings before anyone else placed offers. Having the security to know that Kevin was working his tail off to get me a home that I could live in and love for years to come. Seriously, the degree to which working with Kevin made my life easier and more stress free cannot be understated. He sat down with me on our first meeting and really spent time figuring out exactly what I wanted. From then on, we were constantly looking at properties which I didn't even know were available. My wife and I were renting a 1 BR in the Beacon, and wanting to start a family, began looking to stay in the city and buy a 2BR. Since we both can get to work via Caltrain, it was really important for us to find something in Mission Bay, SoMa, South Beach or perhaps Dogpatch and Potrero Hill. For me, location was especially important because I work in Santa Clara a block from the station there, and I currently had the ideal commute, where I could work from the train, and I wanted to keep that after moving. We started looking with Redfin, but finding something in our price range and with the things we were looking for became really difficult. At an open house in SoMa we met Kevin Gueco, who was listing one of the properties we found with Redfin. He immediately seemed knowledgeable and helpful, and went out of his way to follow-up with us that weekend. After such a frustrating experience w/ Redfin (our agent rarely contacted us despite multiple check-in emails), we decided to go with Kevin. Kevin quickly opened us up to new buildings and locations we hadn't considered before (such as a few in Potrero Hill and in the Dogpatch), but as we ruled things in and out Kevin used his access to off-market deals to get exactly what we wanted: I had seen a 2 BR go on the market at the 170 Off Third property, only a block from the 4th and King Caltrain with pool, hot tub, gym -- all the amenities on our wish list. Unfortunately that penthouse was out of our price range. We toured the property anyway, and confirmed this was what we wanted -- Kevin was able to find an off-market non-penthouse 2BR in the same building that was in our price range, and with that deal we are about to close on our new home! Not only did Kevin always help us with things directly and indirectly related to our hunt, he kept up with us and was very responsive, making sure nothing slipped -- which is important since my wife and I both work full-time and needed that help. He was courteous, beyond-helpful, and got us the deal we wanted but never thought we'd get, without compromises! We also recommended him to another couple friend of ours and they got them an investor-owned property and they're closing too! Bottom Line: Kevin does fantastic work and went above and beyond to get me into a place that fit my needs to the T. I moved to San Francisco from Sacramento in December of 2009 to take a job in federal law enforcement. This review is looooong overdue. Last fall (2008), I jumped head first into the tepid waters that is the Bay Area housing market. My attitude is always to not half step when you do things, and I was certainly not going to when do that when it came to buying my future home, yet I was also of the mind that, hey, if it doesn't feel right, I could hold off until it did. Working w/ Kevin was an absolute blast. He and I began with the end as a means. The first question he asked me was, "So, it's Sunday morning, you're sitting in your new home....what do you see?". In my line of work as a firefighter, my cohorts and I see things that most people don't, and subconsciously, it can weigh on your mind. It was important that my future home be almost the polar opposite to create balance. I needed a place that felt like I was on vacation every time I stepped into it. I had accepted the fact that whatever home I was going to buy, I was going to do some work to get it the way I want it (i.e. great kitchen, hardwood floors, bathroom, landscaping). And I was prepared to spend money after buying the home to do it. A few weeks later, Kevin came through like gangbusters. We closed on a house in the Sunset, with a view of the ocean, 3 blocks from the beach, fully renovated kitchen, bathroom, hardwood floors, fully landscaped....and with a huge backyard w/ a deck, where you can hear the surf crashing, and the foghorns in the distance.
